09:20 Depart from Platform 23 at Cape Town Station. 16:00 Arrive in Ashton for a wine tasting at Zandvliet Estate. Travel the spectacular Garden Route towards George. (Breakfast 07:00-10:00, Lunch 13:00, Tea 16:30, Dinner 19:30)

Golfers: Arrive in George. Transfer to Fancourt for a morning tee off. 18:30 Dinner at Fancourt Estate. Non-golfers: 10:00 Morning at leisure in Knysna or ferry ride to Featherbed. Return to train at 16:00. 18:30 Disembark for dinner at Fancourt Estate.

Golfers: Transfer to Ernie Els Oubaai Golf Club for a morning tee off. 13:00 Transfer to Oudtshoorn. Enjoy lunch on board as the train travels the Outeniqua Mountains to Port Elizabeth. Non-golfers: 08:00 Depart George and travel to Oudtshoorn. 11:00 Enjoy a visit to an ostrich farm. Traverse the Outeniqua Mountains to Port Elizabeth.

Golfers: Morning tee off at Humewood Golf Course in Port Elizabeth. 13:00 Transfer to Coerney to join train. Non-golfers: 08:30 Game drive in the Addo Elephant Park. 13:00 Depart for Rosmead and traverse the Fish River Valley through the Drakensberg Mountains.

14:00 Travel the Drakensberg to Bloemfontein for a city tour. 17:30 Travel the border of Lesotho’s mountain kingdom and descend the escarpment via Bethlehem to Ladysmith.

Golfers: Traverse the Valley of a Thousand Hills to Lions River. Transfer to Durban Country Club for lunchtime tee off. Join train in Durban at 17:00. Non-golfers: 15:00 Disembark in Durban for an afternoon city tour. 19:30 Enjoy dinner as the train travels to Swaziland.

15:00 Game drive at Mkhaya Reserve in Swaziland. 18:00 Travel north to Komatipoort, South Africa.

Golfers: Transfer to Leopard Creek (dependent) for a morning tee off. Non-golfers: 08:00 Game drive in the Kruger Park with brunch. 15:00 Travel across the Drakensberg Mountains to Waterval Onder for the overnight stop.

07:00 The train descends the escarpment to the farming and coal-mining areas of the Highveld. 15:00 Arrive at journey’s end at Rovos Rail Station, Pretoria.


A RICH TAPESTRY OF LANDSCAPE, GAME, HISTORY AND CULTURE. This panoramic nine-day sojourn winds its way from Pretoria to Cape Town and includes a golfing and non-golfing itinerary. The train traverses the majestic Drakensberg escarpment en route to Mpumalanga where guests enjoy a game drive in the famous Kruger Park and golfers play at Leopard Creek. The train then travels through Swaziland to Mkhaya Reserve and Hluhluwe Reserve where a wide variety of game can be seen on morning and afternoon game drives. Then it’s on to Durban for a city tour or a game at Durban Country Club before the train traverses the Valley of a Thousand Hills en route to the famous Ardmore Ceramics Gallery. The route to Bethlehem takes the train past the Kingdom of Lesotho and the highest mountains in the Drakensberg range at 3,482 metres. After a tour of Bloemfontein, guests travel south to Port Elizabeth for a visit to the Addo Elephant Park or a game at Humewood before continuing on to Highgate Ostrich Farm in Oudtshoorn. What follows is a spectacular rail descent down the Montagu Pass into George and a visit to the natural paradise of Kynsna. Golfers play at Fancourt and Oubaai, Ernie Els’s only signature course in South Africa. The train then sets off along the scenic Garden Route, stopping at the KWV Brandy Distillery before this splendid Collage ends in Cape Town.
